New BS EN ISO 9001 award underlines Cooper's commitment to quality

19 June 2003

Cooper Lighting and Security Ltd has successfully achieved BS EN ISO 9001:2000 registration for its company-wide quality management system.

The award of the new certificate recognises that Cooper's quality management system meets or exceeds all of the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2000, which replaced the 1994 version of the standard.

According to Nick Wylde, group quality manager for Cooper Lighting and Security, upgrading the company's systems to satisfy the new standard was vital: "Our Crompton Lighting, Menvier and JSB ranges of products enjoy an enviable reputation for quality in the marketplace - a reputation that we are keen to protect by demonstrating to customers that our quality systems continue to meet the highest international standards."

BS EN ISO 9001:2000 views an organisation as a series of interacting processes and places much more emphasis on issues such as measurement, customer satisfaction and continual improvement.

As required by the standard, Cooper's quality management system embraces all areas of the business, including staff training, product design and development, purchasing, customer interaction, logistics and servicing.
