Doncaster-based Cooper Lighting and Security has introduced a new generation of high-specification conventional fire detectors for use with Menvier and JSB fire-alarm systems.
Incorporating the latest sensing technology, the new ranges of Low-profile detectors have been designed to offer a variety of innovative features at a competitive price.
A key development is the use of a purpose-designed light-pipe to enable the detector's alarm LED to be seen from any direction. As well as saving vital search time in an emergency situation, the 360° viewing-angle LED speeds up the installation process since there is no longer any need to adjust the orientation of the detector for optimum LED visibility.
The detector base also includes a number of innovations aimed at easing the installer's job. A stand-off mounting feature prevents the base from distorting when attached to an uneven ceiling, while break-out sections and cable channels ensure flush mounting against the ceiling even when surface wiring is used. Separate in and out terminals make the connection of loop wiring quick and simple, and a locking facility can be activated at any time to prevent the detector from being removed without a suitable tool.
The flagship of the range is a combined photo/thermal detector, which is designed to provide a high level of sensitivity in real fire situations while minimising susceptibility to false alarms. This is achieved by control circuitry that keeps optical sensitivity at a reduced level in normal conditions but automatically increases it as soon as a rise in ambient temperature is detected.
In addition to the photo/thermal detector, the range also includes an optical smoke detector, an ionisation smoke detector, fixed heat detectors with trigger temperatures of either 77° C or 92° C, and a rate-of-rise heat detector.
Approved by the LPCB to the relevant parts of EN54, the new ranges of detectors have been specifically designed to be compatible with Menvier and JSB control panels.
