Cooper Lighting and Security has expanded its Crompton Lighting range of products with the introduction of the Lightmaster XL discharge-lamp low-bay luminaire, which offers a 27% reduction in depth compared with the standard Lightmaster product.

Ideal for a variety of industrial, warehouse and sports applications, the new luminaire is competitively priced yet combines the robust, heavy-gauge steel construction of its predecessor with design enhancements such as a detachable gear tray, improved optical performance and an expanded range of lamp and attachment options.

The detachable gear tray makes for quick and easy installation and maintenance. The body of the luminaire is installed first, and then the gear tray is simply hooked on to the body, hinged through 90 degrees and secured via a locking screw. Lightmaster XL has overall dimensions of 435 x 340 x 184mm, and it can be fitted directly on to a ceiling or trunking, mounted to two BESA boxes, or suspended on either conduits or chains.

Improved optical performance has been achieved through the use of a Xenoptic extra high reflectance, zero-iridescence anodised aluminium reflector, which is precision designed for accurate light control.

Lightmaster XL is supplied complete with lamps, and the range now includes SON-E, SON-E De-Luxe, SON-E Super, MBI-E (3700K and 5200K colour temperature versions), MBFU, SON-T with rack reflector, and MBI-T with rack reflector. All versions feature timed ignitors as standard to protect the control gear at the end of lamp life and are available with tungsten run-up facility to provide illumination while the discharge lamp is warming up.

The expanded range of attachments includes a toughened glass panel (supplied as standard on MBI lamp versions), a polycarbonate dish, a standard wire guard, a deep wire guard for sports hall applications, and a transverse louvre for areas sensitive to glare. Each luminaire can accommodate up to two attachments, which are easily installed by sliding them into the body via guide rails and rotating an end plate to ensure retention.
