Relaunched website features fully searchable e-catalogue

30 October 2002

Cooper Lighting and Security has relaunched its website, www.cooper-ls.com, to include major enhancements such as a fully searchable e-catalogue containing comprehensive technical data on the company's vast range of products.

With a portfolio of brands comprising Crompton Lighting, Menvier and JSB, the company has something to offer for anyone involved in specifying mains lighting, emergency lighting systems or fire-detection systems, and the website provides a rich source of useful information relating to these areas.

Ten seconds after the homepage appears, visitors to the site are automatically transferred to the newsdesk page, which features new products and the latest company news. At any time, visitors can click on a button to move to other parts of the site, which include a case studies section, design guides, product search, service contracts, the Cooper Club promotion, literature request and location maps.

The design guides section offers general technical information such as glossaries of terms and illustrated guides to designing lighting and fire systems.

By clicking on 'product search', the visitor is presented with a choice of either accessing conventional PDF datasheets or entering the new e-catalogue, which covers all Crompton Lighting, Menvier and JSB products.

Structured by product category, the e-catalogue is navigated either in Explore mode or - for people who are less familiar with the company's range of products - View mode, which provides photographs and descriptive text to guide the user. Also included is a key word search facility.

The powerful search capabilities of the e-catalogue enable the user to quickly identify the most suitable products for each particular application, based on the attributes chosen from pop-down menus.

Clicking on the product name then brings up a full datasheet, including photograph, line diagram, general description, list of key features, technical specifications and net trade price. In addition, the datasheet contains links to any related items, e.g. accessories, and buttons for downloadable resources such as installation leaflets, photometric data and application photographs.

The e-catalogue database has been developed in-house at Cooper Lighting and Security, and it will be maintained in-house to ensure that the information is continually updated as new products are introduced.
