Tough new IP65 fluorescent luminaires can handle aggressive conditions

May 21, 2007

The new Crompton Lighting Tufflite range of linear fluorescent luminaires from Cooper Lighting and Security have been specifically designed for use in applications where they may be subjected to wet or dusty conditions or even corrosive chemicals.

There are two different models in the range – Tufflite TFW and Tufflite TFC – and both feature a robust construction with a deep poured gasket seal for IP65 protection against the ingress of dust and water.

Tufflite TFW is a general-purpose, weatherproof luminaire with a flame-retardant polycarbonate body, prismatic diffuser and clips. The luminaire’s vandal-resistant design makes it suitable for public areas such as swimming pools or car parks, as well as industrial applications like plant rooms and loading bays.

Tufflite TFC, with its polycarbonate-free construction, is ideal for use where resistance to corrosive chemicals is a key requirement. Its body is made from glass-reinforced polyester, the diffuser from stippled acrylic, and stainless-steel clips are supplied as standard.

Both luminaires are available in eight different sizes to accommodate a variety of T8 or T5 lamps in either single or twin configurations, and the range also includes integral emergency versions.

Quick and easy to install, the new Tufflite luminaires feature tool-free geartray clips, a 3-way push-connect terminal block and a 20mm cable entry hole at each end, complete with sealing plugs. In addition, the luminaires can be mounted using quick-fix suspension brackets to eliminate the need to seal fixing holes.
